JCS Canada Charity Fund Donates $58,940 to Local Charities

Jarden Consumer Solutions (JCS) announced that its employee-funded JCS Canada Charity Fund donated $58,940 to local charities in the fourth quarter of 2014. These grants underscore JCS Canada Charity Fund’s commitment to provide essential services and opportunities to at-risk youth, women and families in communities where JCS employees live and work.
“JCS Canada Charity Fund employees are devoted to supporting community development where they live and work,” stated Rocki Rockingham, JCS Vice President of Community Relations and Communications. “Through their participation and charitable contributions to the Fund, employees are making a positive impact on their community and neighbors, helping to improve quality of life for those who need it most.”The JCS Canada Charity Fund approved funding for the following Canadian organizations: Bereaved Families of Ontario-Halton/Peel received $6,140 to provide two bereavement support groups and fifteen one-on-one sessions, Brampton Safe City Association received $2,500 to help support the organization’s “Day of Hope” community event, Creating Together Family Resource Centre received $10,000 to support salary costs for an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to facilitate age-appropriate programming for preschool children ages 0-6 to help build children’s literacy, numeric, social and physical skills,Drew Hildebrand Teen Benefit Fund received $6,000 to support the organization’s delivery costs associated with the Music and Arts Support Program for at-risk teens. Specifically, funds will provide music lessons/workshops and equipment rental, art lessons/workshops and materials, meal vouchers/gift cards and bus tickets, as well as six new guitars,Evergreen received $5,000 in support of the organization’s Seeding Healthy Communities workshop series, Urban Agriculture Volunteer Leader training program and the Seedy Saturday Community Festival,Girls on the Run received $9,500 to support 80 girls from third to eighth grade in the Brampton area. The JCS Canada Charity Fund partnered with four schools to provide scholarships,John Howard Society of Peel-Halton-Dufferin received $5,000 in support of four annual social events to help those formerly incarcerated reintegrate into society and reduce social isolation through interaction and networking,Nexus Youth Services received $10,000 to support the agency’s group programs including Arts in Action, Pain 2 Gain, Pro-ject, Between Us Girls, Guy Code and Volunteer Training, all to ensure high-quality, non-traditional support to empower youth in the community, Safe City Mississauga received $4,800 to provide funding for Rachel’s Challenge, consisting of two assemblies hosted by the organization at high-priority schools. Funds will support the assembly costs, student training session, community event and the Friends of Rachel participant support package.
