Man charged in Empress Walk sex assault case
Police arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with an alleged sexual assault at the Empress Walk complex in north Toronto and said there may be more victims.
Toronto police announced that a Thornhill man had been arrested in connection with the case and thanked the public for identifying him.
Police said the initial incident took place on Feb. 20, shortly after 11:15 a.m. when the suspect approached a 22-year-old woman at Empress Walk — a shopping and condo complex at Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. — and sexually assaulted her. The suspect then fled when confronted by a witness.
Police released multiple pictures of the suspect, who was later identified.
The 36-year-old faces 13 charges in total, including two counts of sexual assault, three counts of committing an indecent act and six counts of failing to comply with probation.
Police said there may be other victims in the case and urged anyone with information to contact police at 416-808-3204.
