The Brahma Kumaris Centre in Toronto is extending an invitation to all to join them on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 3000 Islington Avenue, Toronto (Tel: 416-537-3034) from 5:30 p.m. To 7:30 p.m. To celebrate the life of Brahma Baba, the founding father of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University.  As global violence escalates, let us step into the New Year with the powerful gift of stillness.  This time will be dedicated to world peace and will blend meditations, reflections and contemplations on the true meaning of non-violent living in our thoughts, words and deeds.

Brahma Baba lived a life of peace and preached unto the people the value of co-existence, co-operation and harmony and asked them to give up hatred, enmity and vengeance.  He maintained towards all souls of the world a vision of benevolence and mercy.  He became an embodiment of all virtues and experienced the divine inheritance of all powers in his practical life.  Together with that, he demonstrated the highest stage of character, one marked by complete non-violence, and he revealed by example a new world order.

The essence of the knowledge taught is to experience the remarkable, uplifting impact of understanding oneself as a spiritual being – a soul.  The soul is a tiny, sentient point of light that is the source of “life” in a living being.   It is when a soul takes birth in a human body that it comes to be called a human being.  Though it resides in a perishable body, the soul is imperishable.  It cannot be destroyed and it does not die.  The soul has no caste, nationality, race or gender.  It gets labelled on these lines according to the circumstances of its birth and it later life.

The eternal religion of all souls is peace and their eternal relationship is of brotherhood in a spiritual family.  Purity, love, happiness and bliss are the original qualities of the soul.

The most important journey you can take is the journey within.  This is a journey to the truth of who you really are.  You arrive at a place where you start to enjoy moments of silence and to savor periods of introspection and reflection.  This is the place, just beyond everyday consciousness, where spiritual empowerment begins.  Spiritual power gives you the power to choose creative thinking rather than automated thinking, response rather than reaction, peace, love and harmony rather than stress, conflict and chaos.

Raja Yoga mediation redefines the self as a soul and enables a direct connection and relationship with the Supreme Source of purest energy and highest consciousness.  This link of love gives you a clear spiritual understanding of yourself, helps you re-discovery and use the positive qualities already latent within you, enables you to develop your strengths of character, and creates new attitudes and responses to life.
