A Turkish couple celebrated their marriage by inviting 4,000 Syrian refugees to dine at their wedding banquet. Fethullah Uzumcuolu and Esra Polat, got married last week in the border city of Kilis, which is sheltering 4,000 Syrian refugees. As per Turkish traditions, weddings ceremonies are spread over three days and culminate with a grand dinner for family and friends. But the groom’s father, Ali, thought it would be a change to spend the money raised for the wedding on feeding the refugees.Ali said “I thought that sharing a big delicious dinner with family and friends was unnecessary, knowing there are so many people in need living next door.“ The couple borrowed a truck from the local refugee charity Kimse Yok Mu. The groom, Fethullah, said: “Seeing the happiness in the eyes of the refugee children was priceless. We started our journey to happiness with making others happy and that’s a great feeling.“
