Mumbai mayor compares Modi with Hitler

Mumbai mayor and Shiv Sena leader Snehal Ambekar has compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to late German dictator Adolf Hitler.

In an interview to a Mumbai tabloid, Ambekar said: “I admire Modi for his self-reliant way of working. But at some level, I feel his rule is quite like Hitler. This is bound to happen when power is concentrated in the hands of one man.”

However, after her remarks created uproar in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), she backtracked. The BJP, with which the Shiv Sena shares power in the BMC, protested her statement. Ambekar later told the civic body that she had been misquoted in the interview.

Ambekar, a first-time municipal corporator, was elected the Mumbai mayor on the advice of Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

Ambekar has been in the news for demanding a red beacon for her official car on the grounds that the Mumbai mayor was equivalent to the Maharashtra Chief Minister.

However, the state government has turned down her request following the guidelines on installation of red beacons issued by the Supreme Court.

Twitter seem to have become an unsafe place for woman for a number of famous ones are being trolled for speaking their minds. Actress Neha Dhupia became the latest victim of twitter rant after she indirectly criticised PM Narendra Modi for concentrating on selfies and ignoring basic governance with reference to the Mumbai rains. “One rain n the city comes to a standstill. Good governance is not about selfies n makin us do yoga,it’s making sure ur citizens r safe(sic),” tweeted Neha and that was enough for Modi bhakts to start trolling her.

“@NehaDhupia aunty rain se government Se kya sambandha hai,” wrote one bhakt, while another one tweeted, “I thought Modi was Prime Minister of India and not Prime Minister of Maharashtra.”
