“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Members of Council, I join with our local Pakistani community to commemorate the celebrated occasion of Pakistan Independence Day.

“2015 marks the 68th anniversary of when Pakistan became a sovereign nation. On this day, Pakistan families will gather to reflect on and pay tribute to their country’s history, heritage, culture and national identity. These families will also open their doors to their neighbours so that all people may better understand and appreciate Pakistani culture and traditions.

“Mississauga is home to a vibrant, compassionate and engaged Pakistani community who invest back in our City as businesses owners, volunteers, faith leaders, and active residents committed to making Mississauga an even better place to call home.

“Once again, I offer my best wishes to everyone recognizing Pakistan Independence Day.”
