Former Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh has accused the SAD of misusing Akal Takht and the SGPC for political gains. He claimed that following a rift with the BJP in Haryana, the SAD made the Jathedar to issue an anti-RSS statement.

He said during his tenure in 1999, he had directed to hold the Khalsa Sajna Diwas jointly, but the then SAD government, had differences with late SGPC president Gurcharan Singh Tohra and did not obey him. He also accused the SGPCof misusing funds.

“BJP, Cong trying to end reservation,” Mayawati

Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and BSP supremo Mayawati has accused both the BJP and the Congress of working to end the reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes by promoting privatisation.

“Earlier the Congress and now the BJP is awarding government sector works to private players. Their intention is to deprive the SCs, STs and BCs from the reservation benefits in government jobs as there is no such quota in the private sector,” alleged Mayawati.

She was addresing an election rally in Radaur town of Yamunanagar district by BSP’s Jagadhri candidate Adarsh Pal Gurjrar and Radaur nominee Mahipal Singh.

“When I was the UP CM I gave full benefits of reservation. I even posted incharge of police stations as per the reservation in all districts, with an aim to stop atrocities on the SCs, STs, BCs and the downtrodden sections of the society,” claimed Mayawati.

Eying votes of the BC category, the BSP supermo said the Mandal Commission report was submitted when the Congress was in power in the Centre, but it wasn’t implemented.

Mayawati said poverty, unemployment and inflation were on the rise due to the wrong financial policies of the government.
