OTTAWA, ON – Rona Ambrose, Interim Leader of the Conservative Party and Leader of the Official Opposition, issued the following statement regarding the departure of Dr. Daniel Lindsay from the Conservative Party Leadership Contest.

“I want to thank Dr. Daniel Lindsay for his participation and contribution to the Conservative leadership race,” said Ambrose. “It’s not easy as a newcomer to politics to become a candidate for a party’s leadership, but Daniel quickly became known to Canadians as an accomplished physician who did five tours in Afghanistan and is passionate about indigenous Canadians. I want to personally thank Daniel for stepping up and putting his name forward to run for the leadership of our party; we are stronger because of his contribution.”

“I know that issues like health care and indigenous matters are close to Daniel’s heart, and I thank him for raising these and other issues during his time as a candidate.”

“Daniel has also indicated he will remain active within the Conservative Party and movement in the lead-up to 2019, and I look forward to working with him to continue to build our party now and in the future.”
