Toronto’s former mayor has said that he was caught off guard by news that he was a potential target in a terror plot currently before the courts.
Rob Ford’s name was brought up during testimony by an undercover FBI agent at the trial of two men charged with plotting to derail a Via Rail passenger train travelling between Canada and the United States.
“I would like to know if my life is threatened,” Ford said while speaking with the media . “Nobody from the authorities responsible called me or had a meeting with me about this. This isn’t something you joke around with or ignore,” Ford added.
Ford added that it was not the first time he has been threatened, and that it wouldn’t’ stop him from doing his job.
Raed Jaser and Chiheb Esseghaier face multiple terror-related charges in the alleged plot, which targeted a train travelling between New York and Toronto. Not-guilty pleas have been entered for both men.
