Peel College felicitates its’ Advisory Board member and Order of Ontario recipient Prof. Shashi Kant

In an event recently organized in Brampton community centre at Ray Lawson Blvd, the Peel College of Professional Studies felicitated Prof. Shashi Kant of University of Toronto who has been awarded with the Order of Ontario – the highest provincial award of Ontario. Prof. Shashi Kant is a world renowned forest economist who is a leading authority on forest economics and sustainability.

Professor Shashi Kant is presently the Program Director, Institute for Management & Innovation, University of Toronto, Mississauga and also the Professor, Faculty of Forestry at University of Toronto. He has been associated with the Peel College of Professional Studies since its inception and is a worthy member of its’ Advisory Board.

On this occasion, Ms Chitralekha Potnis, President and Ms. Anuradha Yadav, Director of Peel College presented a memento and a bouquet to Prof. Kant recognizing him on this laudable achievement. Peel College also wishes that Prof. Shashi Kant continues to gain more accolades in the future.

The function was attended by various community members, friends and well wishers who spoke about their interaction with Professor. All of them agree that Prof. Shashi Kant has a very humble background from a village in Uttar Pradesh, India. With his sheer dedication and hard work, he has achieved this distinction. However, he continues to be available for serving the community and offers a helping hand in various community events. Professor Satyendra Narayan of Sheridan College was also present on this occasion. He mentioned that this honour is not just an honour to him but for our entire community, and more importantly to entire south Asian community and to each of us here in this room. Journey of thousand miles starts with a small step. This honour from the Ontario government is just a beginning.
