May 21, 2015 – Mississauga, Ontario – The Honourable Lois Brown, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development, speaks at the 25th anniversary dinner of Health Partners International of Canada.
PS Brown spoke about Canada’s efforts to provide an appropriate, timely and effective response to crises such as the one caused by the earthquakes in Nepal. In so doing, Canada aims to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain the dignity of those affected by crises and humanitarian disasters.
PS Brown also spoke about Canada’s top development priority: improving maternal, newborn and child health. She said that to end the preventable deaths of women and children within a generation, Canada is committed to leveraging private and charitable sector know-how and resources in support of its development efforts.
Finally, PS Brown congratulated Health Partners International of Canada on 25 years of providing medical aid, in partnership with Canada’s health care community, to help people all around the world survive in the face of devastation.
