The Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA) is pleased to announce that it has now ratified the tentative settlement that was reached with the Education Workers’ Alliance of Ontario (EWAO) on December 10, 2019.

“Throughout this process our goal has been to negotiate an agreement that is fully-funded, fair, and fiscally responsible. This agreement will help ensure a stable and productive learning environment for our students,” said OPSBA President Cathy Abraham. “We value the contribution that our staff who are members of EWAO make to the educational experience of our students every day, and so we are extremely pleased to have ratified this agreement.”

EWAO is composed of:

  • Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens;
  • Association of Professional Student Services Personnel;
  • Dufferin-Peel Education Resource Workers’ Association;
  • Educational Assistants Association;
  • Halton District Educational Assistants Association;
  • Service Employees’ International Union, Local 2; and
  • Unite Here, Local 273.

OPSBA continues to actively participate in the bargaining process with OSSTF Teachers and Education Workers, ETFO Teachers and Education Workers, and the Ontario Council of Education Workers.

The Ontario Public School Boards’ Association represents public district school boards and public school authorities across Ontario, which together serve more than 1.3 million public elementary and secondary students. OPSBA advocates on behalf of the best interests and needs of the public school system in Ontario and is seen as the credible voice of public education in Ontario and is routinely called on by the provincial government for input and advice on legislation and the impact of government policy directions.
