Mumbai’s Abhishek Nayar “is out of danger” after suffering a head injury while fielding on Day 1 of their Ranji Trophy semifinal against holders Karnataka at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
He was later admitted to a hospital. “Nayar had lost consciousness for some time and then failed to recognise people after hurting his head. He was taken to the hospital and a CT scan was done which cleared him. He is out of danger now but has been kept under observation for a day,” said Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Joint Secretary Nitin Dalal.
The all-rounder, who bats left handed and bowls right arm medium pace, lost his balance when he attempted to throw at the stumps and and his head hit the turf.
TV replays showed him lying on the ground for some time when he was attended to and then he completed the over before leaving the field and was taken to the hospital. Nayar did not bat in the Mumbai first innings.
