Mississauga, ON – Amrit Mangat, MPP for Mississauga-Brampton South, gathered with constituents on Saturday at Sandalwood Park for an outdoor social event that featured entertainment and numerous community organizations.
The event, hosted by MPP Mangat, is one of many opportunities she organizes each year to engage directly with her constituents in a light-hearted, social atmosphere. Roasted corn was on offer, along with music and face-painting for children, and representatives of community organizations who spoke to residents about the many programs and services that are available in Mississauga and Brampton.

In addition to listening to constituents, MPP Mangat shared some news of her work in the community and at Queen’s Park, where a recent motion of hers was passed calling on the federal government to contribute a greater share of funding for vital infrastructure projects, such as the provincially-led Hurontario-Main Street LRT project. In her role as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, she is visiting elementary schools to encourage young people to be active stewards of the natural environment.
“Events like this are important for building our sense of community, and for sharing public information,” said MPP Mangat. “We live in a vibrant community, so people deserve to know what services and programs are available to them which are there to help them. I am delighted that so many constituents and organizations wanted to participate.”
The organizations to participate included:

 Associated Youth Services of Peel

 Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada

 Citizens for the Advancement of Community Development (CACD)

 Canadian Blood Services

 Canadian Diabetes Association

 Canadian Mental Health Association (Peel Branch)

 Central West Community Care Access Centre

 City of Mississauga – Environmental Division

 Enersource

 Habitat for Humanity

 Heart House Hospice

 Nexus

 Peel Children’s Aid Society

 Peel HIV/Aids Network

 Peel Regional Police Bike Squad

 Safe City Mississauga

 St. John Ambulance

 Vita Centre

 Zurakowski Model Flying School

The event is one of many that are hosted each year by MPP Mangat and her team of volunteers. As in past years, ample sunshine and a comfortable breeze helped make the event even more enjoyable.
