Ms. Ruby Sahota, Member of Parliament for Brampton North, wished mothers across Canada and in Brampton North, a Happy Mother’s Day. MP Sahota enjoy spending her Mother’s Day with her family, including her young son, her mother, and her mother-in-law.
“Growing up, my mum taught me hard work, self-awareness and compassion, and showered me with unconditional love. It is essential we take the time to recognize and celebrate the amazing mothers that shape who we are,” said MP Sahota. “As a young mother myself, I know first-hand the responsibilities of motherhood and the importance of nurturing and supporting a family. That is why I fully support Budget 2017 as it makes it easier for mothers across Canada to provide a good quality of life to their children.”
The Canada Child Benefit saw families in Brampton North receive $9.43 million to help with the high costs of raising their kids. This provides a financial boost and is particularly beneficial for families led by single parents, and most often led by single mothers. This Benefit saw over 25,000 children helped in Brampton North alone.
Budget 2017 also invests an additional $7 billion over 10 years, to support and create more high-quality and affordable child care spaces across the country. This makes it more affordable for parents to return to work, with thousands of parents more likely to enter the work force.
“When women and girls are fully engaged and have access to the same opportunities as men, our society becomes stronger, our economy becomes more prosperous, and our future becomes more secure,” remarks MP Sahota.
