My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, as well as the Shia Ismaili community here in Scarborough and in Canada. The violent attack on a bus carrying members of the Ismaili community on their way to work in Karachi, Pakistan reportedly left 46 people dead. We are deeply saddened by the loss of so many innocent lives.

As His Highness the Aga Khan, Spiritual Leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims responded, “This attack represents a senseless act of violence against a peaceful community”.

In my riding of Scarborough-Rouge River and in Canada, the Ismaili community contributes significantly to the religious diversity and cultural mosaic. They are a hard-working and peaceful community living in harmony with the diverse communities.

As a Federal Member of Parliament, I am committed to working together for peace, international cooperation, and the common good of all.

My sincere and deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
