MESSAGE OF GREETINGS ON “VAISAKHI”

Published on April 14, 2015 with No Comments

On the joyous occasion of Vaisakhi, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all, especially my Sikh brothers, sisters and their families in the Greater Toronto Area.
2. Vaisakhi is an occasion to celebrate faith, spirituality and tradition. It also marks the time for harvest for farmers in Northern India and is celebrated all over India under different names and rituals – ‘Rongali Bihu’ in Assam, ‘Naba Barsha’ in Bengal, ‘Puthandu’ in Tamil Nadu, ‘Pooram Vishu’ in Kerala and ‘Vaishakha’ in the state of Bihar.
3. This year Vaisakhi assumes a special significance for all of us as our beloved Prime Minister Honourable Shri Narendra Modi ji is due to pay a historic visit to Canada.
4. May the auspicious day of Vaisakhi promote the spirit of amity, friendship and cooperation among all and usher in prosperity and happiness for all. I wish a joyous Baisakhi, Vishu, Rongali Bihu, Naba Barsha, Bahag Bihu and Puthandu to all.
