“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Members of Council, I join with our City’s active and engaged Indian community to celebrate Republic Day of India.

“This year marks the 65th anniversary of when India’s constitution became enshrined into law. It is also when the Indian people took a fundamental step forward, toward charting their own future and aspirations as a sovereign republic. This remains an important milestone for the world’s largest democracy.

“Today, Canada and India enjoy a strong and proud relationship that thrives in communities across our nation. The strength of this bond is especially evident in places like Mississauga.

“I wish to further recognize members of our local Indo-Canadian community who are so committed to enriching all residents about our shared values, and who are dedicated to strengthening ties between Mississauga and Indian cities.”
