Loblaw Companies Ltd has recalled President’s Choice Moroccan – style hummus as it may contain a toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria.

Loblaw stated in the news release that the affected hummus product was sold in 280-gram containers across Canada with UPC 060383133870 and best before date of June 14, 2015.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency also issued a food recall warning on the President’s Choice Moroccan – style hummus.

The consumers should not consume the recalled product.

The food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin is resistant to heat and it cannot be easily destroyed at normal cooking temperatures.

There have been no complaints or reports of illness associated with the product to date and all units have been removed from store shelves across the country, Loblaws said in a press release.
