Loaded Gun Seized During House Party Investigation

Investigators from 11 Division uniform and Criminal Investigations Bureau seized a loaded firearm while investigating a house party in Mississauga.

On Saturday, March 14, 2020, at approximately 6:12 a.m., police responded to a residence located in the area of Huntingfield Drive and Glenn Hawthorne Boulevard in the City of Mississauga for reports of person with a firearm.

Investigation revealed that an altercation occurred at a house party at which point, a firearm was seen. There was no evidence that a firearm had been discharged and no reports of any injuries being sustained. A loaded, semi-automatic handgun was seized.

Joshua Shirley, a 23-year old man from St. Catharines has been charged with Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm and Fail to Comply with release order x 2. He attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on March 14, 2020 for a bail hearing.
