BRAMPTON – Brampton Mayor Jeffrey has this to say about  Liberal leader Justin Trudeau’s historic $125 Billion infrastructure announcement:

“I am so pleased to see that investing in municipal infrastructure has at last taken centre stage in the 2015 Federal Election.  Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau pledged to increase infrastructure funding to historic new levels. This is welcome news to cities like Brampton. It further highlights the importance of the need for smart growth, recognizing that municipalities across Canada are under immense pressure to stay competitive, innovate and to continue to provide high quality services.”

“When governments work together we can build great cities,” said Liberal Candidate for Brampton North Ruby Sahota. “Our historic infrastructure investment will finally give cities they support they need to build transit, hospitals and more.”

“Every dollar we invest in infrastructure generates at least 2 dollars in economic activity, jobs for our residents and improves our quality of life,” added Sahota.

In 2015, the Government of Ontario committed to significant investments in transit including a $1.6 billion fully funded Light Rail Transit and Two-Way, All Day GO Rail Service connecting Brampton to Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo. The new infrastructure investments will build on these investments and build momentum as we move forward.
