Richmond Hill – Today, at GO Transit stops and TTC Stations across the Greater Toronto Area, Liberal candidates in 50 ridings are meeting with local commuters to share Justin Trudeau’s plan to make historic investments in public transit to meet the needs of local communities, said Majid Jowhari, Liberal candidate for Richmond Hill.
“The people of Richmond Hill talk to me about the frustration that comes with inefficient and inaccessible public transit options. A Liberal government led by Justin Trudeau will make historic investments in public transit to strengthen the middle class, grow the economy, and ensure that people spend less time commuting, and more time with their families,” said Mr. Jowhari. “Investing in public transit means not only making sure people can get to work and school on time, but also growing our community and local economy.”
Whether its hours spent sitting in gridlock, packed subway cars, increasingly polluted air, or having insufficient transit options to get from point A to point B, transit issues affect our daily lives. All Canadians, in communities large and small, will benefit from the Liberal plan to significantly invest in public transit. A Liberal government will work with provincial and municipal leaders in the Greater Toronto Area to see that the priority needs of our residents are met. This could mean increasing public transit options to have fewer cars on the road.
“Ontarians need a federal government that will sit down with municipalities and provide funding for vital transit infrastructure, helping to tackle the problems affecting our community of Parkdale-High Park and the whole GTA,” said Arif Virani Liberal candidate for Parkdale-High Park. “A Liberal government is prepared to be that partner, making the largest transit infrastructure investment in our nation’s history while creating well-paying jobs, providing a needed injection into the economy and getting you where you need to be faster.”
