Noted actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan finally joined the micro-blogging site Twitter on Tuesday, January 26, bringing cheer to all his fans. The first tweet he posted was a patriotic one on the occasion of Republic Day.
The 61-year-old multi-talented actor posted a video of him singing the national anthem and wrote “India’s freedom struggle remains unique even today. Respecting it is d only way to keep it & set new world standards.”
While, Kamal Haasan already has an account on Facebook, the actor joined Twitter rather late. Within just two hours of debuting on Twitter, Kamal Haasan received 15,000 followers.
His daughter Shruti Haasan who has been on the micro-blogging site for a while, welcomed her father. She tweeted, “One of the happiest moments ever on Twitter !!!! Welcome my most favourite person @ikamalhaasan to twitter !!! Love you appa.” Her father replied, “Love you too sk.”
Shruti has over 3.3 million followers in Twitter, while Kamal’s younger daughter Akshara Haasan who debuted in Bollywood last year with ‘Shamitabh’, also has 45,000 followers.
A host of celebrities are on Twitter and the move will help Kamal Haasan to interact directly with his scores of fans who immediately started following him.
The actor was last seen in Tamil-Telugu bilingual movies ‘Thoongavanam’ and ‘Cheekati Rajyam’. His upcoming film ‘Viswaroopam 2’ is in its post-production stage and is set to release sometime this year. Kamal will also star with his daughter Shruti in a movie in which the dou will play father-daughter on screen.
