  • Additional trains bring more convenience to Mississauga commuters

MPP Dipika Damerla celebrated  the addition of two new train trips on the GO Milton line by handing out coffee to morning passengers at the Cooksville GO station and riding the inaugural trip of the added morning train.

GO Transit has added one train in the morning and afternoon peak periods that will stop at all stations along the line. The new morning trip will leave Cooksville at 8:57 a.m. and arrive at Union Station at 9:30 a.m. The new evening trip will leave Union Station at 3:40 p.m. and arrive in Milton at 4:38 p.m.

“The addition of these two new trains is great news for Mississauga commuters,” said MPP Dipika Damerla. “The additional train trips on the Milton line will make it easier for people to take transit. During the last election I promised to add more trains on the Milton line. I have been working with the Ministry of Transportation to add extra trains on the Milton line for some time now, and I am absolutely delighted that, starting today, we have two new train trips to bring more convenience to Mississauga commuters. The additional train trips will reduce crowding on the Milton line, provide customers with more travel options and enhance the customer experience.

The additional train trips will reduce crowding on the Milton line, provide customers with more travel options and enhance the customer experience.  These additions will benefit commuters in Milton, Halton Hills, Brampton, Mississauga, Etobicoke and Toronto.

“It’s an exciting time for public transit in Mississauga,” said Damerla. “Last November we opened the first four stations of the Mississauga Transitway dedicated bus service: Central Parkway, Cawthra, Tomken, and Dixie stations; and later this year we will open the new GO bus terminal at Square One, the second busiest terminal in the entire GO Bus network.”
