Neymar could be an injury doubt for Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash with Liverpool next week after limping off during Brazil’s 1-0 friendly win over Cameroon. The forward suffered an apparent groin problem and was replaced in the eighth minute, to boos from the crowd. Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar played down fears of a serious problem. “He felt discomfort,” Lasmar said. “He will need a bit more time to evaluate it and take a scan, but in principle it is not a serious injury.” In Paris, a shoulder injury to Kylian Mbappe overshadowed France’s 1-0 friendly win over Uruguay as Didier Deschamps’ world champions ended the year on a high note. Mbappe had to be replaced in the first half after a nasty fall. He became the second PSG player to get injured on the day.
Terrance Mitchell to return from IR
The Cleveland Browns designated cornerback Terrance Mitchell to return from injured reserve. Mitchell started four games before fracturing his wrist in the second quarter of Cleveland’s 45-42 overtime loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sept. 30. He underwent surgery on the wrist the day after the game.
The 26-year-old Mitchell returned to the practice field, but is not eligible to play until Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers on Dec. 9. E.J. Gainers, who was Mitchell’s replacement, is out for the season after sustaining a second concussion during a 37-21 setback to the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 4. The 26-year-old Gaines finished with 13 tackles and one interception. Mitchell joined the Browns in March as an unrestricted free agent. He recorded 19 tackles, one interception, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery before being injured. The 5-foot-11, 191-pound Mitchell spent the previous two seasons with the Chiefs, and he also played for the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears in 2015. He has 104 tackles, six interceptions, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 30 passes defensed in 34 career contests. The Browns (3-6-1) visit the AFC North-rival Cincinnati Beangals (5-5) on Sunday (1 p.m. ET)
