Liberal MP Scott Brison joins local candidates to highlight Justin Trudeau’s plan to help Canadians

MISSISSAUGA – MP Scott Brison, along with Liberal candidates Omar Alghabra  (Mississauga-Centre), Navdeep Bains (Mississauga Malton), Peter Fonseca  (Mississauga-East Cooskville), Iqra Khalid (Mississauga-Erin Mills), Gagan Sikand (Mississauga–Streetsville), and Sven Spengemann (Mississauga – Lakeshore), today spoke to Mississauga residents about the Liberal plan to deliver fairness to the middle class and those working hard to join it.

“The residents of Mississauga have had to work longer and harder just to make ends meet,” said Mr. Brison.  “With the Liberal Party’s plan for fairness, we will give a tax cut to the middle class and provide more money to help them raise their kids.”

Mr. Brison highlighted that while Mr. Harper’s Conservatives are focused on giving money to those who need it least, the Liberal plan will provide one bigger, fair, tax-free, monthly cheque to middle class and low-income families.

“Mr. Harper’s priority has been tax breaks for the wealthiest Canadians. We don’t think that’s fair” said Peter Fonseca, Liberal Candidate for Mississauga-East Cooskville. “Liberals believe in a country that works for everyone. Our progressive plan will put money directly in the pockets of those that need it.”

“Under the Liberal plan for fairness, a typical two parent family with two kids, earning $90,000 per year, will receive $490 tax free every month,” added Gagan Sikand, Liberal Candidate for Mississauga -Streetsville.  “Under the Conservative Party plan, that same family would only receive $275 a month after taxes.  Mississauga families deserve better than that.”

“The Liberal Plan will help those working hard to join the middle class as well,” said Iqra Khalid, Liberal Candidate for Mississauga – Erin Mills.  “Under our plan, a typical one parent family with one child, earning $30,000 per year, will receive $533 tax free every month.  Compare that with Mr. Harper’s plan which would only provide $440 after tax.”

MP Brison and the Liberal candidates spoke to over 100 supporters at a town hall style event at the Mississauga Valley’s Community Centre.  During the question and answers they took time to speak about how the Liberal Plan would help make the tax system fairer.

“Our plan will cut middle class tax brackets by seven percent” said Omar Alghabra, Liberal Candidate for Mississauga-Centre. “This is a $3 billion tax cut for those who need it most.”

“This will help everyday Canadians while also stimulating economic growth throughout the country,” said Sven Spengemann, Liberal Candidate for Mississauga – Lakeshore. “It is a fundamental shift away from the unfair, status quo policies Canadians have come to expect from Mr. Harper’s Conservative government.

“Canadians now have two fundamentally different choices,” said Navdeep Bains, Liberal Candidate for Mississauga – Malton.  “Mr. Harper offers tax breaks for the wealthy while Mr. Trudeau and the Liberal Party offer a strengthened help for the middle class, who have not had a decent raise in 30 years.”
