CBI registered an FIR in an important Vyapam related case, naming former higher education minister of state Laxmikant Sharma, his close aide Om Prakash Shukla and several others in the recruitment of transport constables in 2012. The Congress had directly attacked Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the issue.
The anti-corruption agency has booked 52 persons for cheating, forgery , IT Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and sections of Madhya Pradesh Recognised Exams Act in the matter.
The case was earlier probed by STF of the state. It was alleged that alteration in optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets by employees of Vyapam in connection with Transport Constable Recruitment Test 2012 had been done to favour candidates.
Probing the Vyapam scam, the CBI has so far registered 13 FIRs and five preliminary enquiries to probe alleged irregularities and cases of suspicious deaths.
