TRUDEAU SHUFFLE IS AN ADMISSION OF FAILURE

The Deputy Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, made the following statement on Justin Trudeau’s cabinet shuffle:

“Justin Trudeau’s cabinet shuffle is nothing short of an admission of failure. It is a confirmation that he has been unable to deliver on key portfolios Canadians rely on for their livelihoods and their security.

“Major shakeups in international trade, natural resources, and border security are an admission from Mr. Trudeau that his government has failed to protect Canadian jobs and secure our borders.

“On trade, the Liberals have failed to diversify Canada’s export markets while presiding over the decline of our current trading relationships. On resources, they have failed to build desperately needed infrastructure to boost our economy and create jobs. On borders, they have failed to come up with a plan to deal with the influx of illegal border crossers entering our country.

“Canadians need to see a course correction from the Liberals on these key files. However, the individuals Mr. Trudeau chose to lead them don’t inspire confidence that anything will change. Unfortunately, Canadians can expect more failures from the Liberal government on these fronts in the coming months leading up to the next election.

“Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives will continue to hold Justin Trudeau’s Liberals to account and call for action on these critical files.”
