Male Charged With Possession of Handgun and Ammunition

Uniformed officers from the Peel Regional Police 11 Division have arrested and charged a 17 year-old male in possession of a .45 caliber handgun and ammunition.

On Saturday, September 9, 2017, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Peel Regional Police responded in the area of Argentia Road and Winston Churchill Boulevard in the city of Mississauga for a possible gunshot.  Investigation led to the arrest of a 17 year-old male, who was in possession of a Taurus .45 calibre handgun along with a magazine containing ammunition.

The accused has been charged with Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, several firearms related offences as well as Failure to Comply with Probation and Possession of Controlled Substance. The accused has been held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identity of the Young Person charged in this investigation is protected.
