A former SaskTel employee stole more than 200 phones incurring a loss of more than $180,000, according to the provincial government’s annual loss reports. The reports, released this week highlights several thefts and losses to Saskatchewan’ Crown corporations, executive government and the Ministry of Health.
One report highlights an investigation into the SaskTel employee. The employee, who was suspended without pay and has since resigned, allegedly stole more than 200 phones and sold the phones to third parties. The theft has been reported to police, but the phones have not yet been recovered. Another report shows four portable heart monitors were stolen from Pasqua Hospital in Regina, which is about a $20,000 loss, and another report alleges a hospital employee in Lloydminster stole around $3,000. Regina police have been notified of the heart-monitor thefts, and the employee in Lloydminster, who no longer works at the hospital, has since been charged.
Ontario calls for creation of two new northern ridings
Ontario plans to introduce legislation this fall, proposing to add a pair of new ridings in Northern Ontario. The final report of the Far North Electoral Boundaries Commission calls for two new ridings to be created; called Kiiwetinong and Mushkegowuk.
The province said it plans to introduce legislation in the fall.
If passed, the reforms would result in a total of four ridings in the area, namely Kenora-Rainy River, including Dryden, Fort Frances, Kenora and Rainy River; Kiiwetinong, including the northern portion of the former riding of Kenora-Rainy River; Mushkegowuk, including Weenusk (Peawanuck) First Nation and Timmins, including the City of Timmins
