Sexual offences on trains and tubes double in five years in UK

Reported sexual offences on trains have more than doubled in the past five years, as per reports in British media.

British Transport Police figures show 1,448 offences were reported in 2016-17, up from 650 in 2012-2013. The rise shows the importance of work done by authorities to encourage women to report incidents. The majority of the incidents recorded were sexual assaults on females aged 13 and above.

The figures came to light following a freedom of information request from BBC Radio 5 live.

Arab nations trim demands for Qatar to six

The four Arab nations that cut ties with Qatar have urged the Gulf nation to commit to six principles instead of 13 on combating terrorism and negotiate a plan with specific measures to implement a step that could pave the way for an early resolution of the crisis. The principles included commitments to combat terrorism, prevent financing and safe havens for such groups, and suspend all acts of provocation and speeches inciting hatred or violence.

An Indian-origin doctor is set to become the UK’s youngest physician to start work at a hospital. Arpan Doshi graduated  -aged 21 and 335 days. He will beat the previous record by 17 days.
