Trudeau defends abortion position

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has defended his party’s pro-choice position after a graphic anti-abortion flyer was distributed to Canadians with his face pictured beside a photo of a fetus.
The flyer, being spread across Canada, is part of the Campaign Life Coalition and the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform’s #No2Trudeau campaign. The pamphlet reads: “Justin Trudeau supports abortion until birth.”
Talking to media after aLiberal caucus meeting in Ottawa Trudeau maintained his party’s abortion policy. “I am perfectly comfortable with Canadians knowing that the Liberal Party is unequivocal in its defence of women’s rights. We are the party of the Charter. We are the party that stands up for people’s rights. We will continue to do so,” said Trudeau.
Last year, Trudeau had announced that all Liberal MPs elected in 2015 would be expected to support the party’s pro-choice position.Liberal health critic Hedy Fry spoke specifically to the flyers in a statement.“These flyers are incredibly graphic in nature, and regardless of individual positions on abortion, many Canadians are understandably upset that this group has exposed their children to these disturbing images,” said Fry.
