Punjab ex-minister Langah gets 3-year jail in assets case

Nearly 13 years after registering an FIR against former Agriculture, PWD Minister and SAD leader Sucha Singh Langah and another SAD leader Amrik Singh Mohali, the special Mohali court today awarded three years imprisonment to Langah and Amrik Singh in a disproportionate assets case.
Special Judge Dilbagh Singh Johal also imposed a fine of Rs 1.1 crore on Langah and Rs 1.1 lakh on Amrik Singh.
Later in the evening, both Langah and Amrik Singh deposited the fine in the court and were released on bail after furnishing bail bonds of Rs 5 lakh each.
Both Langah and Amrik Singh were awarded three years imprisonment under various Sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and under Sections 467 (forgery of valuable security) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) of the IPC.
