Aamir Khan starrer “Dangal” has overtaken S.S. Rajamouli’s epic “Baahubali: The Conclusion” at the worldwide box-office. The wrestling drama is nearing a total collection of Rs 1900 crores, taking a lead over ‘Baahubali 2’ which has just crossed the Rs 1700 crore mark. ‘Dangal’ is based on the true story of national-level wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who fights the patriarchal society to train his daughters – Geeta and Babita to become world class wrestlers.

The Nitish Tiwari-directed biopic, which was released in China on May 5, earned Rs 1089 at the Chinese box-office by June 4. Renowned film critic-cum-trade analyst shared the details on his Twitter account. “#Dangal Gross Box Office Collection @ Worldwide Box Office (Till June 4th 2017): #China – Rs 1089 crore. #Taiwan – Rs 36.50 crore. Rest of the World – Rs 744.50 crore. Total – Rs 1870 crore,” he tweeted.

However, the battle is not yet over as ‘Baahubali 2’ will hit Chinese theatres on July 17, and it remains to be seen if the film would overtake the collection of ‘Dangal’, which is still going strong. The film’s license in China has been extended till July 4.

Meanwhile, ‘Baahubali 2’, released in over 9,000 screens worldwide on April 28 and has already shattered a good many records. It holds the record of being the first Indian film to make the fastest Rs 100 crore and to cross Rs 1,500 crore in worldwide collections. The movie has crossed Rs 1,700 crore worldwide within 37 days of its release.
