Witnesses sought after pedestrian struck and killed by streetcar in Chinatown

Toronto police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a streetcar in Chinatown.

The fatal crash occurred on Spadina Avenue near Sullivan Street, south of Dundas Street, on last Friday.

A 65-year-old man stepped around a safety barrier and into the path of a southbound streetcar, police said Tuesday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 43-year-old man, has not been charged.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
