Indo-Canadian musician Vandana Vishwas who recently won the 2016 Toronto Independent Music
Awards, and is on an extended tour of UK and India to promote her newly released third full
length music album ‘Parallels’, has added another feather to her cap by winning silver medal
at the prestigious Global Music Awards. The silver medal has been conferred to Vandana for
her already hit song ‘Mai Beqaid (Flamenco)’, in World Music and Female Vocalist categories.
Since its debut, Vandana’s new album ‘Parallels’ opened on Roots Music Report World charts at
No.1 position and has stayed there for four weeks in a row. It has also cracked the CMJ Top
40 World charts recently, debuting at No.9 spot. In UK, Vandana performed at two concerts in
Birmingham, and a literary fest in London, where eminent internationally famed writers such
as Tejendra Sharma and Dr. Sathi Ludhianvi were present. Dr. Sathi was impressed with her
singing so much that he invited Vandana for an interview on his well known MATV channel.
Apart from this, Vandana was also invited by SOAS Radio (formerly affiliated with BBC London)
of London University for a live radio interview and concert.
After a very successful tour of UK, Vandana is now in India, where she was recently
interviewed by BBC Urdu, New Delhi. She has concerts lined up in Bangalore, Raipur, Kolkata
and a few more cities before she returns to Canada in March 2017 for another busy Canadian
season.
Multiple US and Canadian award winner, nominee, honourable mention holder and an ex-All India
Radio artist, Vandana Vishwas is known for her flawless voice, pure notes and crisp diction
of south Asian languages which is rarely found outside of the Indian subcontinent. A bold,
Out-of-Box composer who is not afraid of experimenting with unlikely combinations of Indian
music with other genres, Vandana is one of the few original south Asian music composers and
producers in Canada who are equally revered in and out of India.
Vandana’s new album ‘Parallels’ is the first of its kind featuring collaboration of Indian
music with different genres of mainstream and World music such as Flamenco, Country, African,
New-Age, Ballad etc., making each song unique, resulting in 5 pairs of ten unique ‘Parallel’
songs.
The album is available for online ordering through iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby, or through
direct e-mail ordering on info@vandanavishwas.com. It is expected to be available in India as
well this month.
