“Nothing is all wrong. Even a clock that has Stopped running is correct twice a day,” said Mr. Kher in the press conference held for his new book launch at the Thompson Hotel in downtown Toronto on August 17, 2012.
Showered with innumerable accolades and awards, he holds the distinction of winning no less then 8 Filmfare awards in a row. His critical and commercial success in over 100 plays and almost 450 films stand testament to this eternal optimism that gave rise to the drive and passion that catapulted Padma Shri award-winning actor Anupam Kher to the heights of being considered one of the greatest actors of contemporary cinema.
Kher went international when he worked with acclaimed directors such as Gurinder Chaddha, David O. Russell, Ang Lee and Woody Allen. Last year, Mr. Kher held a pivotal role in Robert Lieberman’s Canadian film, released last year at TIFF, Breakaway. He is the only Indian actor to have shared screen space with the legendary actor Robert De Niro in David O. Russell’s upcoming film Silver Linings Playbook. Mr. Kher is also starring in Deepa Metha’s film Midnight Children scheduled to be released in later this year.
In recent years, Kher has been increasingly sought out by business schools and corporates to lecture about the lessons that can be imbibed from acting in coping with the pressures of life and living. In 2011, he detailed his philosophy and authored his first book on life coaching titled The Best Thing About You is You! The book was endorsed by many celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, and is a best-seller and is currently in its eighth edition selling 57 thousand copies.
