In tennis, disrup tions usually occur if a spectator screams when the ball is tossed up for serve, or if the shadow of an aeroplane affects a rally. But the reason behind this latest delay in a tennis match has to be the most unique of them all.
During an ATP Challenger Tour contest between America’s Frances Tiafoe and Mitchell Krueger at the Sarasota Open, there were a series of delays owing to some loud sex noises, reported a daily from England.
As the match went on, so did the sex grunts. “I still hear it,“ screamed a broadcaster. “It’s still going. What’s going on?“ In the middle of the second set, he looked around in dismay, still trying to understand the source of the passionate sounds. The broadcaster put it down to someone watching an adult video on mobile phone.
Soon, the broadcaster realised that it was not in fact a cell phone, but two people getting it on. “No, that is not a phone,“ he said. “That’s an apartment across the lake. Oh my God. Well, everybody was looking around to see where that was coming from and we’ve finally figured it out. It wasn’t a video. At least somebody’s having a good night.“
