Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has made a mark for himself for taking unusual steps that catch his opponents off guard while he strives for fulfilling election promises. He promise of unearthing black money was well carried out through demonetization, and India is fast surging ahead to move to digital economy. Leaving his critics aside, the repositioning of the economy can be gauged from the fact that Google has launched its e payment app in India by the name “Tez”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of brining bullet train to India was met with surprise however three years down the line Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a major step to set the process rolling. Critics are still struggling to come to terms with the joint participation of Japan and India to lay the track from Mumbai and Ahmedabad with Japan participating actively in terms of providing the finances too.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a strong believer that advancements in technology augur well for any society as is evident from his push for digital India. Bullet train played a great role in the growth of Japanse economy, as it reduced travel time between key cities drastically and putting industries, suppliers, workers, businessmen, consumers and hence business on the fastest lane possible on the surface. At the time of introduction of the Bullet Train in Japan in 1964, the per capita income was just $835 dollars and when the network for the Bullet trains spread per capita income has reached $ 36000 now. China too has had a similar experience with its per capita income jumping from $3,500 to $8,000 post the introduction of bullet trains. These figures would prompt any leader to take a call and do the needful for the country. This joint program of India and Japan to work together to get the bullet train project going would take India into the club of cream of the crop countries that could boast of bullet trains. Prime Minister Narendra Modi deserves accolades for being so foresighted. World-class transportation system is essential for any country to accelerate growth. His critics those who have been lamenting on the poor condition of railway and other infrastructure should take a back seat and acknowledge that India has over billion people to be taken care of, and a faster economic growth is the precondition for its success.
The project will lead to a boom in economy with thousand getting employed in getting the track and other infrastructure in place. No wonder Prime Minister Modi may be able to fulfill his promise of generating more jobs and that too at an accelerated rate. A lot has to be done for the infrastructure for road and railways and with the Bullet Train project worth Rs 1.08 Lakh Crore, the basic infrastructure will also get a boost.
With India now willing to upgrade from 160 kilometer per hour to 320 kilometer per hour through this Bullet Train Corridor at Mumbai and Ahmedabad stretch, the Indian Railways would get to learn a lot on the safety systems and bring the rate of accidents down.
Ever since the joining of hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister, all those critics who have been raising question like “not enough money to feed the poor,” “Trains not running on time”, should remember that former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi was laughed at when she wanted to host the Asian Games in 1982, and when flyovers were announced at Delhi. Today, the traffic is moving smoothly due to those flyovers built in various cities. Now is the time for India to give its railway a boost, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a leap step forward and has the vision to take India forward.
