Recently acquired Cleveland Browns tacklee T.Y. McGill was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession in North Carolina ahead of Sunday’s season opener. McGill, who spent the past two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, was picked up off waivers last week by the Browns. The team was not aware that McGill faced charges before the news broke.
As per reports, McGill had a “a small amount” of marijuana when stopped by a police officer. The 24-year-old could also be subject to discipline by the NFL. A court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 24. In two seasons with the Colts, the former North Carolina State player has 17 tackles and five sacks in 25 games.

Argentina & Chile sitting on the edge. Saudi Arabia qualify
Jubilant soccer fans celebrated after Saudi Arabia qualified for next year’s World Cup. Saudi Arabia stunned Japan to reach their first World Cup since 2006, with a 1-0 victory that consigned Australia to the playoffs.

Argentina and Chile’s World Cup qualification hopes were left on a knife edge after the South American heavyweights slipped up once again on the road to next year’s Finals in Russia. Argentina needed a second-half goal to help them snatch a 1-1 draw against already-eliminated Venezuela in Buenos Aires while Chile crashed to a 1-0 defeat against Bolivia in La Paz. The results left 2014 World Cup finalists Argentina and reigning Copa America champions Chile outside of the automatic qualifying places and sets up a nail-biting final two rounds of matches next month.
Argentina are fifth in the standings with 24 points from 16 games while Chile are sixth with 23 points.
Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli admitted his team had blown a golden opportunity to force themselves into the automatic qualifying places following Chile’s defeat. Uruguay meanwhile moved to the brink of qualification with a typically combative 2-1 win over Paraguay.
