Statement from Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath on Liberal housing announcement

Queen’s Park – “Today in Ontario, families are struggling to afford their own apartments, and most young families have no hope of buying into the neighborhood they grew up in. Kathleen Wynne watched this problem grow for years, and has done nothing.

Now, I’m concerned today’s announcement may be too little, too late.

There is nothing in the Wynne Liberal bullet points that addresses affordable or social housing stock that is desperately needed. And there is nothing in this announcement that helps first-time buyers get into a home of their own.

I’m waiting to see the legislation – since we know Wynne has a record of selling one thing to Ontarians, and doing another. But, frankly, the missing pieces and vague bullet-points leave Ontario families concerned that Kathleen Wynne still doesn’t get how much the housing crisis is impacting their lives.”
