Sonia Sidhu welcomes Finance Minister to downtown Brampton and Airport Taxi and Limousine Compound

On Monday, July 17, Sonia Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Brampton South, welcomed the Honourable Bill Morneau, Minister of Finance, to downtown Brampton.  The Minister visited MP Sidhu’s office at 24 Queen Street East before meeting with Brampton caucus members, business leaders and members of the Brampton Board of Trade (BBOT) at Algoma University.

During the meeting, business leaders from Brampton shared their views on the Government’s progress to date, and plans for continued economic growth. Many who attended shared their happiness with the Government’s record on business, and said they look forward to continued investments to create more jobs in the city.

Following a meeting with local media, Hon. Minister Morneau to visits the Taxi and Limousine compound at Pearson International Airport. There, he was also joined by MP Sonia Sidhu, MP Ruby Sahota, MP Raj Grewal and MP Kamal Khera.

At the airport Taxi and Limousine compound, Hon. Minister Morneau and MPs had a chance to listen to, and meet one-on-one with taxi and limousine drivers, before the Minister addressed the assemble drivers with an update on current issues and Government policies.

“It was nice to meet many constituents who work at the airport,” MP Sidhu said. “Many had an opportunity to directly speak with the Minister to raise their concerns in regards to federal policies that affect the taxi and limousine business at the airport. I look forward to future visits of a similar nature.”

In his first visit to Brampton as Minister of Finance, Bill Morneau said he was happy to see Brampton’s economic growth, and credited the many business leaders making a difference, and creating jobs, across the city.
