Salman is Bollywood highest advance taxpayer

Salman Khan continued to rule Bollywood as the highest advance tax payer for the financial year 2016-17, while stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma surprised with an increased tax by 206 per cent in a single year.

Salman paid an estimated Rs 44 crore in advance tax, beating out Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan. The ‘Sultan’ actor paid an increased tax by 39 per cent from last year, when he paid Rs 32 crore in advance tax, maintaining his position as the highest paid Bollywood star, according to a reports in media in India quoting an Income Tax Department official.

However, figures for Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan were not revealed because of their involvement in the Panama Papers scandal.

Akshay Kumar has been ranked at second position with advance tax payment of Rs 29 crore, while Hrithik Roshan came in at number 3, with Rs 25.5 crore in tax payments. Kapil showed the highest year-to-year jump, by paying Rs 23 crore for 2016, as compared to Rs 7 crore in the previous year.

Ranbir Kapoor’s stock took a drop, as the actor paid Rs 16 crore for this year, as compared to Rs 22.3 crore in the last financial year, the report stated. Surprisingly, Aamir Khan, who delivered an all-time blockbuster in 2016 with ‘Dangal’, paid only Rs 14 crore in advance tax. ‘Dangal’ made a profit of Rs 140 crore, the report stated.

Among the female stars, Deepika Padukone, paid Rs 10 crore in tax, followed by Alia Bhatt at Rs 4.3 crore, while Kareena Kapoor paid Rs 3.9 crore.
