‘Thrilled’ about shauchalaya named after him
Actor Rishi Kapoor has responded to the protest by the Congress workers in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad city, who have named a public toilet in the city after the Bollywood actor.
The 63-year-old actor said that he was thrilled by such a move. The actor said unlike the Congress loyalists, he would be of some use to the people.“I have every right to voice my opinion. I know I have ruffled a few Congress feathers but they have misunderstood my intentions,” he said
He also said that he takes pride in the fact that the Sulabh Shauchalaya is named after him because it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘pet project’ (Swachh Bharat).
Rishi Kapoor had posted several tweets on May 17 over the fact that while many of the infrastructure facilities in the country is named after the Nehru and Gandhi family, others from all fields of work including the film industry who have contributed to the well-being of the country should be provided with the same honour. This did not go down well with the NCP supporters who even allegedly protested outside the actor’s residence in suburban Mumbai. Rishi Kapoor also maintained that his intention wasn’t to insult or demean the Gandhi family but only to bring this matter to everyone’s notice as a citizen of India.
