RBC and Heart & Stroke foundation successfully hosted South Asian Women’s Health Program at Sant Nirankari Mission Canada, Brampton on September 27.

People are lining up for the free heart and health screening.

RajinderArora, Insurance Advisor at RBC. has been working with the Sant Nirankari Mission as a volunteer for long, and he strongly believes in the Mission’s oneness philosophy.  “There are more than 50 volunteers from the Sant Nirankari Mission and the Heart & Stroke Foundation are working at this event in various different positions,” said Arora.  Over 200 of Brampton community residents had their blood pressure and cholesterol level checked at the free heart and health-screening clinic.

“It was an amazing experience, I worked as a volunteer in the registration line and later I had my blood pressure and cholesterol level checked. I am glad that my blood pressure and cholesterol level is very normal,” said Kuldeep Paul, Brampton Resident.  Paul is an active member of the Sant Nirankari Mission, and working has been working in all community events for past 20 years.

“There are many people who do not have a health card, and Normal routine check up cost them a lot of money, also they afraid to see a doctor because it might go in their medical record, so I think, It is a good opportunity for them to have free check up at this event, said Paul.”  Community service is often referred as “Seva” in one of the basic principals of the Sant Nirankari Mission. Mission is known for itsAdopt-A-Road cleanliness drive events, Blood donation clinics, welfare and awareness events.  “It’s a fantastic day. I am impressed with the turnout, and so happy to see that so many people have come to learn more about their health,” said Adaoma Patterson NDP Candidate from the Brampton West.  Patterson has been a long time Brampton resident and a community leader with the united way of peel region, the Jamaican Canadian Association and greater the Toronto CivicAction Alliance.

Dr. Natalia Lishchyna, town councilor of ward six in Oakville had a great experience attending an event and supporting working volunteers.  “Dr. Jimmy Nanda has invited me here to have a look what happens here at the mission, and everybody here is so welcoming, its really quite amazing to see, and I am very pleased to see that there is so much involvement, said Dr. Lishchyna.”
