South Africa 327 for 8 (Rossouw 122, Duminy 73, Mennie 3-49) beat Australia 296 (Warner 173, Tahir 2-42, Abbott 2-48) by 31 runs
South Africa cruised to a 31-run victory over Australia at PPC Newlands in Cape Town to seal the five-match series and inflict a historic one-day international whitewash on Australia. South Africa had posted 327 for eight in their 50 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first thanks to Rilee Rossouw (122) and JP Duminy (73) but David Warner (173) fought a lone battle as Australia were bowled out for 296 in the penultimate over to hand South Africa a five-nil series whitewash.
“We wanted to make history! We were a team throughout this series and it is amazing to be a part of this team after the goals we set ourselves,” Proteas captain Faf du Plessis said after the match.
