On Saturday, June 20, Premier Kathleen Wynne visited the Sringeri Vidya Bharati Foundation (SVBF) in Etobicoke to celebrate its fifth anniversary. A large crowd was on hand to greet Premier Wynne, who was joined by the Hon. Dipika Damerla, MPP, Dr. Shafiq Qaadri, MPP, Amrit Mangat, MPP, Harinder Malhi, MPP, and Yvan Baker, MPP.
Over the last five years, the SVBF has become an important centre for educational initiatives, offering regular classes teaching Sanskrit, Yoga for well-being, dance, and Youth Camps. These classes focus on building the skills youth need to succeed in the modern competitive world and keep the rich Indian culture alive and in dialogue with other cultures present in Canada
The fifth anniversary celebrations began with a wide range of spiritual and cultural programs. The highlight was a grand Bharatha Natyam dance performance by the Sri Sanskriti Dance Academy featuring 50 children on stage performing various dance numbers.
