Police Seize Firearm During Traffic Stop

Officers from 22 Division have arrested and charged two individuals for numerous firearm and drug related offences in the City of Brampton.

On Thursday February 8, 2018, at approximately 10:40 p.m., 22 Division Uniform officers investigated a vehicle in the area of Richvale Drive South and Bovaird Drive East. During the investigation, police located a black .22 caliber handgun. Rahwa LEAKEMARIAM, a 25 year-old female from Brampton, and Courtney MCKENZIE, a 28 year-old male from Brampton,were arrested and charged with several drug related offences as well as other  firearms offences: Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Knowledge Of Unauthorized Possession Of Firearm, Careless Storage Of Firearm, Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm, Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

LEAKEMARIAM and MCKENZIE were held for a bail hearing scheduled for Friday, February 9th, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
