Police are trying to track down a man who took cellphone photos of a woman while she was using a public washroom in Toronto’s west end.

The incident occurred on Sept. 23, just before 10 a.m.

A 25-year-old woman entered a washroom in the Islington Avenue and Bloor street area. While she was in the stall she noticed someone in the stall beside her pull a cellphone out of a brown plaid knapsack sitting on the floor, police said.

That person then allegedly extended the cell phone under the divider wall between the two stalls and took several pictures. The woman ran out of the washroom and contacted security who confronted the man. The suspect ran off when he realized police were being called.

He is described as a black man, 18-30 years old with a thin build, brown eyes and black hair in braids. He was last seen wearing a grey long-sleeve t-shirt, dark baggy pants and a black baseball cap, carrying a brown plaid knapsack.

Police have released a photo of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

Police also ask for anyone with information to contact them.
