Police Investigating Explosion in Commercial Complex at  Mississauga

On Sunday February 11, 2018 at approximately 7:30 a.m., Peel Regional Police received a call for an explosion at a commercial complex located at Hurontario Street and Agnes Street in the City of Mississauga.

A 39 year-old male from Mississauga was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A 43 year-old female and 6 year-old boy from Mississauga were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. A 50 year-old male and a young child were treated at the scene and released.

Hurontario Street will be closed from both directions at Dundas Street to Hillcrest Avenue due to the explosion until further notice.

A number of families have been displaced from the area of the explosion and it is uncertain when they will be allowed back into their homes.  To assist these families, Region of Peel Human Services is currently leading a coordinated response with the Red Cross at the evacuation centre at Mississauga Valley Community Centre. 

Peel Regional Police is working alongside numerous agencies and we would like to thank the affected members of our community for their patience in this matter.  We ask for further patience and understanding from community members who will not be able to access their homes or businesses in the area.
